Supabase, the open-source Firebase alternative built on PostgreSQL, raised $500 million in a Series F funding round that values the company at $10.5 billion — doubling its valuation in just seven months. The round was led by Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC, with Stripe investing for the second time and Salesforce Ventures joining for the first time alongside existing backers Accel, Y Combinator, Craft, Felicis, Peak XV, and Coatue.
Key Highlights
- $500 million Series F at $10.5 billion post-money valuation, up from $5 billion in October 2025
- 600% year-over-year increase in databases created on the platform
- AI agents now deploy the majority of databases — Claude Code is the top contributor
- 250,000+ customers worldwide, with Supabase for Platforms growing 370% in six months
- Multigres launched: an open-source Postgres sharding and scaling layer
AI Agents Are the New Developers
The funding reflects a seismic shift in how software is built. AI coding assistants — most notably Anthropic's Claude Code — are now responsible for deploying the majority of databases on Supabase's platform. The company has seen databases grow 600% year-over-year as developers use AI tools to spin up backends faster than ever before.
"Demand for Supabase is exploding," said Paul Copplestone, Co-founder and CEO. "Agents are now deploying the majority of databases on our platform."
Claude Code alone has been the single largest contributor to new database creation on the platform since the start of 2026. Supabase for Platforms — a product enabling companies to offer database infrastructure as a service — saw 370% customer growth in just six months, as companies embed Supabase backends directly into their AI-native products.
The Vibe Coding Infrastructure Play
Supabase sits at the epicenter of the vibe coding movement — where developers describe what they want and AI generates the full stack. This workflow invariably generates a Supabase backend: authentication, PostgreSQL database, storage, and edge functions, all provisioned through simple natural-language prompts to tools like Claude Code or OpenAI Codex.
Total capital raised now exceeds $1 billion. The valuation doubled from $5 billion to $10.5 billion in the seven months between Series E (October 2025) and Series F (June 2026).
Multigres: Scaling Postgres for the Agent Era
Alongside the funding, Supabase launched a preview of Multigres, an open-source scaling layer for PostgreSQL. Multigres brings horizontal sharding, zero-downtime migrations, and high availability to the Postgres ecosystem — capabilities previously only available in proprietary managed databases.
Released under the Apache 2.0 license, Multigres addresses one of the biggest remaining pain points for teams scaling AI-native applications: Postgres performance under heavy, agent-driven workloads.
Investor Confidence in the AI Database Layer
The round's investor composition tells its own story. GIC's lead reflects sovereign wealth confidence in database infrastructure as critical AI-era investment. Stripe's second investment signals that Supabase is becoming essential financial infrastructure — powering the payments layer of AI-generated applications. Salesforce Ventures' debut investment indicates enterprise adoption is accelerating.
What's Next
Supabase has stated that the new capital will fund accelerating its lead in agentic infrastructure — the database, auth, storage, and edge layer that AI agents rely on. With over 250,000 customers and databases being deployed at machine speed, Supabase is positioning itself as the default backend for the coming wave of agent-built applications.
