4 Tunisian Women Inventors Awarded at European Young Inventors Competition

Tunis, Tunisia - July 21, 2024 - A Tunisian team of four women inventors achieved remarkable success by winning third prize at the European Patent Office's young inventors competition in Malta 2024. The inventors - Khawla Ben Ahmed, Ghofrane Ayari, Salma Ben Tamim, and Sirine Ayari - developed a smart wheelchair control system that meets the various needs of its users.

Invention Details

The device, named "Muvo Brain," is a smart control system for electric wheelchairs, consisting of an electronic chip and a mobile application. This system enables users to move wheelchairs using brain signals, voice, facial movements, or mobile phone, giving people with special needs freedom of movement without the need to use their hands.

Importance of the Award

More than 500 candidates participated in the competition, making the Tunisian team's win a remarkable achievement. Tunisia is the first Arab country to be nominated for this competition since its launch.

Future Prospects

This recognition opens wide horizons for the Tunisian inventors to develop their project at both national and international levels, and strengthens Tunisia's position in the field of innovation and technology.
