Frequently asked questions
How do I type Arabic without an Arabic keyboard?
Write the word in Latin letters the way it sounds — "salam" becomes سلام. You can also open the on-screen keyboard and click or glide across the letters.
How do I add harakat (short vowels)?
Open the keyboard and pick the "Harakat" tab: fatha, damma, kasra, sukun, shadda and tanwin. Put the caret after the letter, then click the vowel.
Can I paste the text into Word or WhatsApp?
Yes. The Copy button puts the text on your clipboard; paste it into Word, Google Docs, WhatsApp, email or any other app.
Can I choose my dialect?
Yes: Standard Arabic, Maghrebi, Khaliji, Egyptian or Levantine. Your choice decides which word is suggested first — واش in the Maghreb, وش in the Gulf.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in the browser on desktop, tablet and phone, with no install and no sign-up.
